LASIK is indicated for what type of vision problems (refractive errors) LASIK is indicated in people with following type of vision problems:

  1. Shortsightedness ⇒ A condition where a person can see the closer objects clearly but object at a distance appears blurred. The condition is also called myopia and eye ball is too long or cornea is too steep in the condition.
  2. Farsightedness ⇒ A person can see the far objects clearly but the closer ones appear to be blurred. The condition is also called hyperopia and eye ball is too small and eye ball is too small or cornea is too flat in this condition.
  3. Astigmatism ⇒ It is a condition where the surface of the eye or cornea is not perfectly round but more oval; therefore eyes are unable to focus clearly. This condition is usually seen along with myopia or hyperopia.
